This message is intended mainly for the executive board of the NJARC but other interested parties are welcome to respond. I picked up an RCA radio phono console, mod Y205 at a yard sale. My intention was to strip it for parts but I find the cabinet is in decent shape and worth restoring. I also find that it is somewhat of a special model. A plaque inside the door of the radio states 'RCA Victrola, 1941 Anniversary Model' Inside the phono lid is a color decal of the Nipper logo. Alex Magoun suggests this represents the 40th anniversary of the Victrola brand. The radio chassis appears complete with AM and 3 short wave bands. The speaker is good and it has an interesting built in antenna. The phono deck is not original but a replacement although it appears to be a late 1940's vintage unit.
My question is whether the NJARC would be interested in this unit for its museum? I could bring it to the repair clinic in the Marconi Hotel where I would be willing to work on its restoration. I can email a photo to anyone interested. Nick Senker
