[NJARC] Atlantic City Broadcast Transmitter

The work crew of Sal Brisindi, John Ruccolo, Steve Goulart, Ray Facinelli
and Ray Chase, greatly assisted by Tom McNally, the station Chief Engineer,
successfully removed the 1947 vintage transmitter from the station building
in Atlantic City and moved it to InfoAge where it is temporarily stored.
This was accomplished without smashing any fingers or toes although there
will be some sore backs today.  We removed four heavy transformers and with
judicious planning maneuvered it out of the building and onto Sal's flat bed
trailer.  The transmitter is a RCA BTA-250L 250 watt AM unit, 7 ft. tall and
fully loaded weighting 1360 pounds.  They sure made them tough in 1947.
While removing the heavy "iron" reduced the weight by about 400 pounds, that
big heavy steel cabinet was tough to handle (no hand holds).  The unit needs
a lot of cleaning, some flaked painting repair (any good body & fender
craftsmen available?) as well as replacement of a jury rigged circuit

site.  BTW, the station call is WMID @ 1340 khz and this transmitter was the
backup to the backup unit and was used on the air several years ago.  Many
