Hello out there in Radio Land,
Now that we've gotten that new-fashioned, flat-panel, video display
foofaraw out of the way, it's time to go back to real electronics, with
glass and bakelite and tubes making sound out of nothing and scaring the
bejabbers of the under-educated. The publicity machine is humming, the
Hunterdon Radio Theatre is rehearsing, but the show doesn't go on
without your radios, or mics.
In my absence last Friday, three table tops appeared like mushrooms in
the darkened room behind the Auditorium stage (thanks Owen, and
anonymous loaner), but we still need 2 more 1930s consoles and 13 more
1930s table tops, in working order and deliverable by tech. dress
rehearsal next Thursday evening. While some have noted that we could
handle the volume requirements with far fewer, the power of 16-channel
monophonic AM sound is undeniable--let's keep aspiring to it.
In the past, Marv Beeferman, Joe Bentrovato, Sal Brisindi, Ray Chase,
Joe Cro, Marty Friedman, Darren Hoffman, Harry Klancer, Al Klase, and
Phil Vourtsis have loaned equipment for hundreds to admire before,
during, and after the performances. Can you help? Please let me know
if and when you're bringing radios or mics, or if you can loan but need
a pickup. Loaners will be comped two tickets to either the afternoon or
evening show, and credited on the program.
Thanks for reading, and helping promote the Library by promoting OTR,
Alex
