Correction: the LCDs (fixed display) of 1965-6 used crystals that became
liquid at 120 degrees Centrigrade. Wear an oven mitt when you want to
wear the RCA meatball with pride.

On behalf of the Library, I want to thank all who came in for the
clinic. Kudos to Sal Brisindi for lighting up RCA's first commercial
LCD and lending one of his Numitron clocks for comparative purposes; and
Joel Cohen, for building and helping design our motorized lazy Susan for
David Sarnoff's electronic twin: the vacuum tube, which as the original
De Forest triode marks its centenary this month. The 22 tubes include
one of the 3 billionth RCA tubes (at least two of the paperweights
containing said tube are known to exist), an Edison-patent light bulb,
and 20 more tubes from the Larry Boyer Collection, 1915-1944. Marty
corrected the date on at least one of them last year, and we'll have to
get him and some other tube authorities to confirm the others.

cheers,
Alex
