On Saturday, October 28, the David Sarnoff Library hosted two
performances of the Hunterdon Radio Theatre's rendition of Orson Welles
and Howard Koch's War of the Worlds, as played back through, and
recorded by, the sound recording, transmitting, and reproducing
equipment of the members of the New Jersey Antique Radio Club. About
100 people, young and old, attended the matinee and 110 attended the
evening show, which included a reception and period songs performed by
the Red Planet Radio trio.
This is a belated note of gratitude to the Club, without whose
organization we would be unable to stage such a recreation of the aural
experiences of the 1930s, and in particular these members for so
graciously providing their expertise and equipment:
Bob Bennett
Joe Bentrovato
Sal Brisindi
Ray Chase
Owen Gerboth
Darren Hoffman
Harry Klancer
Al Klase
Phil Vourtsis
And those of you who missed the shows can watch an abbreviated variation
on the theme, courtesy of the Simpsons and Youtube, at

Cheers and thanks,
Alex
