Club Members,
The repair clinics are set up so that every OTHER clinic is open to the
public. Our next clinic in May will be for Members Only. At the last meeting
when the topic of lectures was brought up for the clinic, I agreed we would
do so at the May clinic. I welcome John Ruccolo's talk on Superhets and Rob
Flory's talk on scopes and signal tracing. Let me know if you guys can do
the demos during the next clinic. I'm also willing to give a talk on basic
radio theory like I did at the very first repair clinic. Nick Senker's
suggestion of using the conference room at Sarnoff for the lectures makes
sense.

At the next members only clinic we should have lots of room; perhaps the
smaller room could be be used for training/lectures/how too and the the
larger room used for actual repair. My actual experience at the clinics has
been a learning session: I see sets I would not ordinarily come across, I
learn techniques and repair information I am not familiar with and find the
overall experience very educational. I always bring an old set to work on;
I think the emphasis should be to repair your own set by yourself (with help
and guidance from the experts) - then your are not getting your set repaired
for free; you are the repairman. I think the answer to the many questions
and suggestions raised is to have more frequent clinics. Nick Senker
