Hello,
I'd speculate the face of your "NR-5" is made of bakelite or
possibly formica. Try cleaning it with a paper towel and warm water before
you try something more powerful, though it's doubtful it would hurt it. It's
always best to err on the side of caution!
BTW, Congrads on getting your NR-5 working!
