Yes, I worked for RCA when these were sold. The project lost  about $100 
million dollars each of the three years they were marketed. It was  considered a 
technical success but a marketing failure -- the VHS tape  penetration was too 
great by the time the CED came out.
 
The David Sarnoff Library museum has a working CED player the run Star Wars  
on a CT-100 (1954 first color TV set) for visitors. Ask Alex to demonstrate it 
 at the next NJARC meeting.
