Lowfers (Loafers?)

Per our discussion at the meeting last night, I'm declaring a
DX-pedition to the Marconi Cottage next weekend to listen for SAQ, the
Alexanderson Alternator station, on 17.2KHz.
See: http://www.alexander.n.se/ (Click on Brit Flag, then "HOME" in
upper left.)

The transmissions are at 09:00 and 13:00 UTC on Sunday, 19 Feb 2006.
Unfortunately, that translates into 04:00 and 08:00 EST. Here's my concept:

At least a couple of us need to go down there Saturday afternoon to set
up antennas in daylight and verify that local conditions seem good
enough to proceed. I'm almost an hour and a half away, so I'll probably
bring a sleeping bag and a coffee pot. I'll bring the Watkins-Johnson
receiver and 1-mter loop antenna that did the trick in 1998 from
Flemington. I'll also brig some other antenna stuff and a back-up
receiver of some sort. (Marconi Atalanta?) I have spectrum analysis
software that we can load on any Windows system to record the signal and
maybe dig it out of the noise.

Check http://www.eht.com/oldradio/awa/events/grimeton/grimeton.htm to
see and hear what happened in 1998.

Who is interested?

Regards,
Al
