[NJARC] Another Eye Tube?

  I found an eye tube in it's box at a flea market this week. It is branded RCA Service Parts and is a type 6CD7. The tube says 'Made in West Germany'. The box says 'Made in USA' which they tried to black out. It appears to be the equivalent of an EM34. Photo at the following link;

  Did RCA manufacture in West Germany or did they license someone else to make these? What is the purpose of the gold paint (if any)? Was this tube ever used in US radios?
