Hate to say this but - why would you do this anyway?

Like one of the respondents , my signal gen and counter are on the
bench anyway. And to do it right, you need to tune the IF, then
trimmer ... padder ... trimmer ... padder ... etc until it converges.

It still doesn't take very long.

Guess everybody has their favorite way of doing it.
