At Howell Farm we grow a field of potatoes every year to give to a local
co-op that distributes them to soup kitchens and shelters in the Mercer
County area.  We had a great crop this year, so a group called Farmers
Against Hunger is sending some along with canned goods to Slidell, LA,
where a farm family that has a direct link with Farmers Against Hunger will
see to their distribution.  The ice was just to help keep them cool in
transit.  They left for LA early this AM. 

The potatoes were planted and harvested by Howell Farm visitors, with
guidance from our staff, and the heavy digging done by our oxen and horses.
