Fellow collectors:
A good friend of mine located in Clark, NJ needs to dress a set for a
show and has asked my help in locating a number of old radio / audio
related items.
They are looking for stuff like old microphones, mike stands, old
(ancient-looking) sound gear, cables, tape reels, stuff with audio meters
on it, etc. plus maybe a few old stage-type lights, or anything else that
helps convey a behind-the-scenes atmosphere at a radio station or
recording studio type of a location. They need quite a few pieces to
fill the set and that's part of the dilemma.
You should definitely NOT be so kind as to offer the use of your
mint-condition RCA 77 microphone or anything of any real value. These are
very responsible people and will take good care of anything they use,
but this will be used in an area with people passing through. Because of
the nature of the show, it's possible that something could be bumped into
and knocked over, so nonworking, not-too-fragile items only would be
prudent choices. I'm lending them several items, but my good mikes are
staying on display at my place!
They routinely create displays on all sorts of esoteric themes, but this
one has proven to be an impossibly difficult situation for them to pull
this particular rabbit out of the hat, and the event is coming up on
Thursday. They're getting a bit desperate so I said I'd try to help.
I realize this is a long shot, but if you've got some stuff and are
willing to help out, it would be greatly appreciated. There is some money
to cover expenses. Anybody got some junky-but-cool-looking stuff that
might fit the bill?
Thanks,
