CHRS/KRE REPORT: We are pleased to report that the roofing project on
the KRE building will be close to completion this week. The roofers are
doing a great job. The old KBLX sign that faced the freeway for the last 20
years or more has been removed. The sign was not part of the 1950 look of
KRE and also needed to be removed to make the roofing job go easier. So,
last Monday the Arrow sign Co. took it down. Arrow was the company that put
it up originally. And, the other big news is that our ancient sewer ejector
system has been repaired, upgraded and is now in proper working condition
thanks to the donation of our pump by Mr. Stuart Corvin of The Cal Steam
Company and the excellent plumbing work done last week by the LJ Kruse Co.
of Berkeley. This means we can use the inside toilet facilities once 10 or
more years of neglect and hard water stains are cleaned away and the rooms
repainted.

For those who missed it, the news story that ch. 7 aired last Monday
about CHRS will soon be available on our web site as a video clip.

Our work party on Saturday May 21st was quite successful. A great crew
showed up to paint the doors & new baseboard in the lobby & doors in the
upstairs hallway, to weed and plant the flower beds in front of the
building & weed whack the lower 40. Rich & Lea McCall, (thanks for the
pumpkin bread), & Lea's mother, (a great painter), Will Rayment, Jerry
Cantou, Walter Hayden, Butch McDonald & Maria Palting, (welcome back), new
member Elsa Trexler & myself were the worker bees this day. Thank you to
all for your great work. We got lots of chores done and all had that great
feeling at the end of the day. The great feeling comes from doing work we
are passionate about. The building is looking better every time we work
there. My only wish is that more of our long time members could find time
for CHRS. It would be great if you could help us at KRE. One Saturday a
month is all we ask for now. CHRS has provided our members with hundreds of
opportunities to acquire, sell & trade radios for the past 30 years. Now
it's time to call in the markers. How about volunteering at KRE & giving
something back to CHRS? it will make you feel very good.

CHRS has been given permission by KVTO Chief Engineer Paul Marks &
KFRC transmitter supervisor, (and CHRS member), Erick Steinberg to put CHRS
amateur station W6CF on the air. Our goal is to have this happen at our big
event on July 16th. Station trustee John Staples & the ham radio committee
hope to make it happen. Big thanks and much encouragement to John & the
committee.

Remember, the only way we will succeed in our vision of creating this
place devoted to RADIO, is by your continuing support. CHRS needs your
dollars and your time. Please donate both to CHRS. It will make you feel
great. If you haven't sent back your 2005 renewals & donations yet, please
do it as soon as you can.
