A thingie that combines a plug and transformer in a plastic housing. It
can  
also have rectifiers and filtering. It is suspended by the prongs on the
plug  
and can also have a screw that holds it in the outlet by the "ground
screw".  
The leads to the powered device come out of this assy. to a small  plug
which 
is inserted into the device to be energized. 
 
You know like a wall wort.
