Larry,
There should be no difference using the 74141 or the KM155IDI. You must be
careful using the NTE equivelent as they are not new manufactured bcd to decimal
driver ic's but actually restamped NOS either 7441's or 74141's, I forget
which. There is a difference between them, the 74141 will blank the nixie tube
with an invalid BCD input where as the 7441 will turn on 2 cathodes. WIth a
direct drive 6 digit nixie clock, that will not be an issue, but with a
microprocessor based multiplexed clock with cross fading or digit blanking, you may have
a problem with the 7441. You can purchase the Russian KM155IDI chip from
http://www.neonixie.com for $3.75 a piece. I have 4 of the Russian KM155IDI chip
in my stock but I want to experiment with them and about 150 of the
7441/74141's. Email me off the list with your address and I will send you one of the
74141's if you like. BTW, there is an excellent Yahoo group on nixie tubes called
Neonixie-L, a great group.
Regards,
Sal Brisindi
