[NJARC] Swap Meet Protocols

Martin,
Buying and reselling items at a swapmeet is a very common practice
which I have seen at most of the swapmeets I've attended including
Rochester AWA meets, and yes even at Kutztown. It is not feasible to
police something like that.
The NJARC takes special pains to avoid avoid premature buying and
selling by having the vendors and helpers cleared when they enter the
swapmeet. What goes on before the meet in the parking lot and anywhere
else is unavoidable. The fact that alot of the 'good' stuff is sold
early
is why most serious buyers get there early. By the way a very desirable
Collins was auctioned at the end of the swapmeet.
We are always loooking for volunteers to help improve the swapmeet,
so
if you would like to help out let me know.

I know that this subject has been broached before, and that it is quite
controversial, but I did not like personally witnessing vendors/members
"reselling" items at last Sunday's swap meet in Hazlet!

I saw one vendor buy a radio from another vendor, jack-up the price,
and then put it on his table for sale.

Yes, yes, I know, we all deserve to make a buck, free enterprise...,
etc. But I just found the whole experience to be disturbing from the
standpoint of "more business, less interest". I also did not like the
idea of seeing many of the bargains gone by the advertised start time
of 8:30 AM.

Feedback that I have gotten from both members and non-members about the
Hazlet Swap Meet has been mostly negative. The usual advise is "just
save your money and time for Kutztown". I wonder why ?
