I know nothing about that specific unit.
I do know, though, that the "spooks" used to use video recorders to record an entire portion of a band. So for instance, they might record 150 to 154MHz in a city, then go back through and look for the signal they were looking for, say the taxi that picked up a "person of interest". It is actually a fairly simple process to modify a standard vcr to do this. You just need to arrange for the sync generator to run free instead of trying to lock on the incoming sync signal.
