[NJARC] 2 x 1625's?

Hi Guys:

Permit me kindly to ask for help on this one.

Regading my 1948 transmitter - I'm wondering if the 1625's are being 'fed'
properly.

I'm not sure that I have the grid bias at the 'proper value'...and the output
is lower than I'd expect for these tubes..unless they're weak...which could
be since I've been hard on the rig in my attempt to get it operating.

Presently, the grid bias is at -56 volts.

The 'Book' says -90 for telephony @ 600 volts on the plate ( I've got 700 ).

The gent who built the rig - W2PLY - apparently used -35 volts or a C
battery.

The two 1625's are in push-pull and link coupled in the 1625 grids and to the
output coax.

There are no grid bias resistors to ground in the grid circuit...but 25 ohms
to ground on the cathode...which makes the grid relatively negative ( right?
).

On 80 meters I can easily get 10 ma grid drive...on 20 almost nil..and 30
watts out.
I can reduce the grid drive current significantly without reducing the output
power.

Sooo..the big question is...how do I know if I've got them at max output?

Tnx,
Steve
