It's time to start exploiting our work at Cottage #2 and open the
display to the public at least one day a week soon. It would seem that
Sunday afternoons from say 1:00 pm to 3:00 or 4:00 pm would be the best
way the start. Our goal eventually should be to open Saturday
afternoons as well as be available for school groups and others as
scheduled. We can also train local volunteers as docents to share the
load although that will take some time. Could we target to start this
program on say September 4th? I know that is Labor day weekend but I
should be available for that date. Could I also ask someone to
volunteer to set up a schedule and remind those who have the duty a week
in advance. This can all be done by phone and e-mail. At the last
meeting, quite a few members raised their hands indicating that they
would take a stint and if enough members sign on, it could involve only
one afternoon every 5 to 8 weeks. Hopefully we'll be able to put
together a guide book for members & docents as to what the site history
is, what our message is and how best to present it to visitors. We put
a lot of effort into cottage #2 and we now should make it available to
the public.
Ray
