Al,
Many thanks for sharing your resto page with us. The Freed-Eisemann
looks fantastic, and you did a superb job on the restoration of it! I
particularly like your rejuvaniation of the 01A's in your set. The one in
the picture is an early one with a short pin "Shaw" type base.

Regarding a speaker/horn, any of the generics from the mid-twenties would do
nicely. Just be sure to check if the driver is good before you buy it. They
can sometimes be repaired, but it can be used as a barganing chip when you
purchase one. A good way to test them is to connect a 1.5V "D" cell across
the speaker terminals. You should hear a very faint clicking sound as the
terminals are moved.

Most battery sets did not come with a horn or "phones" as standard
equiptment. You always bought them seperately. Even though Freed-Eisemann
probably sold a speaker with it's own name on it, it may have been made by
another manufacturer.

Best Regards and hope you enjoy your wonderful set. They'll surprise you on
how good they actually play when connected to a good antenna and ground.
                                       Joe Cro N3IBX
