WABC Brings Back Oldies!
77WABC, the station that invented Oldies Radio, is bringing it back on
Saturday nights. WABC airs "Saturday Night Oldies" with Mark Simone from 6-10pm, as
we turn back the hands of time. Listen to the hit songs, the old jingles and
sound clips that made WABC the most listened to radio station in the world!
WABC Program Director, Phil Boyce, said "WABC is the station you grew up with,
and now we are bringing a little of your youth back to the WABC of today."
Mark Simone, who already hosts Saturday morning 6-10am returns at night for
the music show. "They said that day in 1982 when WABC went talk was the day the
music died, but now we are bringing it back to life," said Boyce. The show
will feature interviews with celebrities, as they remember the glory days of AM
rock radio, when WABC was reaching as many as 8 million listeners a week, from
Connecticut down to the Jersey Shore, and all over the 38 states and 7
countries where WABC can still be heard!
Today WABC is the most listened to News Talk radio station in the nation, but
back then WABC was the most listened to radio station period, with great
hosts like Dan Ingram, Cousin Bruce, Harry Harrison, and Herb Oscar Anderson.
WABC's "Saturday Night Oldies" show captures a bit of the magic.
During the show, post your comments on the Saturday Night Oldies message
board, which is part of Musicradio77.com. You can post your comments about the
music radio hey day, and ask questions that Simone will read on the air and
answer.
