[NJARC] NJARC resistor program

Hi,
The most common way to handle this is to by the starter set of 1/2 watt
carbon composition resistors. In the old days IRC sold a kit with a
parts cabinet pre-labeled, etc. There is a sequence of standard values
for resistors and at 10% tolerance you can do it with a single cabinet.
The 10% values are adequate for most repair work particularly in tube
equipment.=20

I bought a set of 5 of each of the values at 5% (2.2 ohms to 8.2 megohm)
from Antique Radio Supply for about $100. You can also still get the
sets in a cabinet for about $300 (I believe these have higher numbers
for common values). You need to also stock a subset of the values at
higher wattage. If you did 2 watt it would cover the 1 watt replacements
as well. For power resistors a range of the adjustable resistors with
sliders would be nice.=20

I found once I had set up the parts cabinets I could sort out all my
loose resistors into bins since each value has a slot. This was done
after 40 years of rummaging through coffee cans of old resistors and the
bottom of parts sets. Also new resistors are actually the value
indicated by the color code!

I think Walt should cut out all the resistors from the junker radios we
all=20
have, measure them all and properly label them.....
