Subject: [NJARC] Camp Evans RAB Meeting, 27 January

I hope that there will be a turn-out at the Wall Township RAB meeting=20
next Tuesday the 27th. Would you please advise me if you will meet with

Fred Carl and myself at the Marconi cottage at 6:30 PM so we can plan on

a pizza or two. Otherwise, you can go directly to the meeting as=20
covered in my e-mail of Jan. 14th. If you need a repeat of that=20
message, let me know. I will be away from Friday to Sunday but I'll=20
pick up my mail on Monday and can get back to you then. Meanwhile, look

over the points below and suggest anything else you think we could
stress.

Here are some bullet points for the BRAC group. (Base Realignment and=20
Closure):

    * The New Jersey Antique Radio Club (NJARC) is a local group of 200=20
radio collectors, radio historians, instructors and radio=20
enthusiasts. We are ready to be an active part of The Info Age=20
learning center and have been primed for several years to play an=20
active roll in the use of the historic buildings at Camp Evans.
    * We have seen promised turn-over dates come and go while the=20
buildings continue to deteriorate and stand as silent monuments of

inactivity serving no useful purpose to the community.
    * We have seen environmental clean up activities place plans for the

public use of this resource in jeopardy several times and in fact=20
the continued drag out of these activities exacerbates the further

      decay of this vital property.
    * Recent mis-communications and bungled work put a serious crimp in=20
planned activities at those properties that we do have access to.
    * The inability to occupy much of the property has prevented the=20
acquisition from estates of historic material that could have=20
benefited our long range plans. This material has gone to other=20
states or has been disposed of in other non-public use ways.
    * Many of us see Malls and Shopping Centers constructed on=20
environmental damaged areas in a few years or less when there is a

will and incentive to get the job done and cannot understand why=20
the U. S. Army cannot complete this local task in a commensurate=20
      period of time.
    * Our President has called for volunteerism and local initiative to=20
take on education, mentoring, and public service projects rather=20
than depend on Government programs for support. Our group stands=20
ready to do our share but seem to be frustrated by that same=20
Government from use the of valuable local resources to accomplish=20
      our goals
     =20
    * Can we obtain some commitments that will be met, once and for all?
     =20
Hope to see you there.
Ray Chase
