[NJARC] Upcoming NJARC elections

Since our upcoming elections in June have been brought up, we
thought we'd
give some thoughts on the subject.

We live in an "active adult" community and recently had elections for
trustees for our homeowners association. We thought the format was
very good and that NJARC might benefit from some of the following ideas
as we have many capable and talented people in our ranks who might
be looking
for an opportunity to "show their stuff".

All positions open for election or appointment be listed
along with the duties pertinent to each in the next edition of
	the Broadcaster.

Anyone interested in a position or appointment(including incumbants
seeking re-election) could "throw their hat into the ring", so to
speak, by
submitting a statement of interest not to exceed 125 words. The
statement
could introduce themselves to the membership and give some background
information, experience, policies, views for the future, etc. The
"applications"
could be forwarded by a certain date to a trustee whose term is not
being
contested this election. They could be compiled by offfice or
position and
arrangements could be made to include them in the March or April
edition
of the Broadcaster. If time allows, we might also have a "Meet the
Candidates"
session at the April meeting where the hopefuls could read a
prepared statement(5 min or less)
or participate in a question & answer session with questions that
could be provided in advance.

We thought that a process such as this would serve the following
	purposes:
		1. Allow for new blood and ideas which are vital for the
continued success
		of an organization.
		2. Give everyone an equal opportunity to run for office or
have their name
		considered when appointments are made.
		3. Qwell the possible discontent where some people might feel that the
organization is being run by a clique(such as the AWA) and that others
		don't have a chance.
		4. Not waste the time of the group with nominations of people
who are not
interested in a particular position or holding office in general.
