Re: My message of 30 December, "Frustration at Camp Evans".
To all those who indicated a willingness to attend the subject meeting
and protest the Army's inaction in turning over the Camp Evans site,
here are the details.
The meeting is on the evening of Tuesday the 27th of January at 7:30 PM
at the Wall Township Municipal Building. Address is 2700 Allair Road.
Directions, take Rt. 138 exit east off GSP (towards Belmar). On Rt.
138, watch for exit marked New Belford Road, there is a bank at the
intersection. Take a right and go to the second traffic light and take
a right again onto Allair Road. The Municipal complex is on the right,
if you go past the Junior High School, you've gone too far. Once in the
parking lot, there is a library on one side of the courtyard and the
municipal building is on the left opposite. Go downstairs to one of the
meeting rooms for the RAB (Restoration Advisory Board) meeting.
However, it is proposed that we meet at 6:30 at Camp Evans Cottage #1
and go over together. If you wish, Fred Carl has offered to provide
pizza and lasagna for us. If you think this is a good idea, please let
me know.
The public comment portion of the meeting is usually last at 9:00 or
9:30 but if we are all there, maybe we can get them to let us have our
say before then. I know some of you will probably not be able to get to
the cottage at 6:30, no problem, come directly to the meeting when you
can get there and we'll have our say when we're all together.
Please confirm that you can come and indicate whether you will meet us
at the cottage for eats or come to the meeting directly.
In the next few days I will draw up some proposed statements for your
review. We may not be able to change the lumbering juggernaut of
bureaucracy but we will at least be able to deliver the message that
there is a ground swell of local support to get this job done and turn
the site over for the good of the public. Fred Carl has been waging
this battle nearly alone for many years, other voices need to be heard.
