KRE PROGRESS REPORT: We are pleased to report that CHRS has retained
the services of Mr. Mark Hulbert of Preservation Architecture to begin work
on the Maxwell Library at KRE. Mark comes highly recommended and
specializes only in historic structures. We are confident that Mark will do
an excellent job with the design for the Library and are pleased to have
him on our team. Stay tuned.

Our General Meeting and Holiday Social on December 4th was quite
successful. Those of you who belong to CHRS only for the acquisition of
radio gear & choose not to attend our meetings, really missed a truly
special event. We had 4 decades of broadcasting from KRE represented by our
guest speakers. Dan Solo, (1944-'45), Carter B. Smith, (1958-'62), and
Gregg McVicar, (1976) told great stories about KRE's colorful past from the
early days at 601 Ashby to the attempts at primitive automation in the
1970s. CHRS is grateful to these 3 broadcasters for giving their time to be
with us and share their recollections of days gone by at KRE.

We discussed the proposals for the inside spaces at KRE. Also at the
meeting, Will Rayment presented CHRS with 2 pieces of vintage
Sargent-Rayment Hi-Fi gear from 1957, with advertising. I'm sure we will
all enjoy having the equipment as part of the CHRS collection. Thanks Will.
And thanks to all who brought all the festive snacks and refreshments.

Remember, the only way we will succeed in our vision of creating this
place devoted to RADIO, is by your continuing support. CHRS needs your
dollars and your time. Please donate both to CHRS. It will make you feel
great. Watch for your 2005 renewal in the snail mail & be sure to donate
heavily.

         Happy Holidays from CHRS.......
It's our 3rd Saturday Work Day at KRE...... This SATURDAY Dec. 18th
at 9 a.m. .......
     Painting, recycling and general cleaning

Your attendance is requested..... We know people are busy at this
Holiday time, but if you have some time we could use your help. The
forecast is for dry sunny weather. We would like to continue the painting
on our 2nd story window frames and on the 1st floor trim. The inside could
use some more general cleaning. Also, we have a great deal of old copper
transmission line laying on the studio roof that needs to be cut up with
metal cutting saws & recycled. So, bring your equipment and lunch give some
time to CHRS. If you haven't seen CHRS' new home, see it this Saturday.
Come explore our vintage radio station home & you too will become excited
about our project. See the great work that your fellow members have done to
the building and grounds. To the best of our knowledge, CHRS is the only
vintage radio Society that has a vintage radio station, (in the middle of a
beautiful park), as its headquarters. This is the real thing and we need
your time and money to help CHRS complete its vision for a West Coast
Center devoted to RADIO. Become part of the CHRS family. Be sure to pass
along this message to members you know that do not have email. Tell them to
get computers.

A reminder that CHRS has a site at Yahoo Groups. This is a place you
can post messages, (items for sale, wanted, questions, etc). It's free.

Be sure to visit our web site. Mike Adams updates it frequently. See
pictures from our December event at KRE and of the continuing restoration.

PEACEFUL & HAPPY NEW YEAR. THANKS TO ALL FOR YOUR HELP THIS YEAR.
