Subject: [NJARC] Infoage Status Report

Things are really starting to happen at Camp Evans. I'll try to note
status building by building. The Township has been very proactive in
moving things along as have our friends in the State and Congress.
The deed to the cottages and the Diana site has cleared another desk in
the Pentagon and needs only one more signature which is expected daily,
the township has already signed off. (If there ever was an apt
demonstration of the ability of Washington bureaucracy and red tape to
delay anything from happening, this is it).
The cottages are now connected to sewer lines and this only needs to be
tested out. The Army has no further work to perform on the cottages and

when the deed is signed, they belong to Infoage.
The Marconi hotel is hooked up to the sewer line and the Army has
committed to remove all asbestos and replace the heating plant. Last
week they replaced the copper gutters and down spouts and put in new
sump pumps. This was not expected but is welcome. Fred Carl has
personally abated all the mold and this building is done when the
asbestos and heating plant is complete. Actually the new heating plant
is in place and only needs electronic work to be completed.
Library or L building behind the hotel: Sewers are connected to this
building. The part where our collection is stored is OK and needs no
remediation. The rest of the building needs to have the sheet rock
removed and we will probably have to do this ourselves but we planned on

doing it anyway.
The Army is clearing foliage one and a half feet from the exterior of
all wooden buildings but will not repaint them. They will allow the
township or us to paint with regular contractors.
The 1st H building: One wing which the Army currently uses is OK and
will be left as-is. The remaining wings will be gutted to remove mold.

We will be left with open space and a 400 amp service. However, this
will resolve the lead paint issue which would be a severe operational or

financial handicap when using the space for family activities.
2nd H building: Again, one wing was redone in the 80s and can be
cleaned up. The rest of the building will be gutted but this building
had several open shops so it can be restored easily.
The next RAB meeting is scheduled for Monday, the 30th at 7:30 PM in the

Wall Township Municipal building. We should have a showing of members,
not that we expect any problems or need to raise a ruckus but it would
be nice to show our support and get the latest status.
I expect that we can discuss future developments more informally at our
swap meet on the 11th of Sept. at Cottage #2.
Any questions or comments, get back to me.
Ray
