I believe that we have been blessed with something that is relatively rare these days: a healthy cash flow. I doubt it would be a burden on our overall financial picture to send something to support an ambitious project by a sister club. We ourselves at some point in time may find ourselves looking for sources of assistance in establishing and maintaining our InfoAge facility.
HOWEVER: Although we have what appears to be a healthy bank balance, that may or may not be an accurate assessment depending on our projected expenditures. Historically our expenses have been minimal and we've managed, almost without exception, to take in more than we spend. Our club is poised to make some big changes in the way we operate, namely the InfoAge project, and this could dramatically alter our cash flow situation.
In order to determine how much, or whether, to share with the overall collecting community, we probably want to know where we stand regarding our own financial needs. Have we put together any sort of budget projections for our club, particularly regarding the InfoAge project? We may find that we're in good shape, or we may find that our resources are woefully inadequate for this undertaking. It would be nice to know, either way.
That having been said, and although this sort of thing could potentially open up a "Pandora's Box" since EVERYBODY could use some financial support, I would not be opposed to a modest show of support by our club for this ambitious effort. We can certainly afford to send something if we choose to. And I agree with the suggestion that we support through private donations those efforts we choose to, I know that many of our members do and we all benefit from that.
Thanks for hearing me out!

To all,
The latest Antique Radio Classified (August 2004) has a wonderful story about the California Historical Radio Society (CHRS) getting an old radio station to call home. After they fix up the building they will have a Museum, Library and a great meeting and fleamarket location.
They have the building for ten years, and are responsible for repairs,
expenses and upkeep.
You can also read about it on line at:

Click on CHRS News - there are several articles about the new building and project there.
Since I will be unable to make the next NJARC meeting to make a motion: I would like to suggest that the NJARC send at least $1000. to CHRS for their building project. If someone would make that motion in my place, that would be wonderful. They really need our help to get things going.
I'm hoping all you will support our fellow collectors in California with a private donation as well. Information is on the web site where you can join and/or send them some money.
