I would whole-heartedly support Rob Flory's recommendation. We have many
projects here, close to home that need our support.
I would not be infavor of sending a "dime" to the "left" coast.
Just my "two cents."

To all,
The latest Antique Radio Classified (August 2004) has a wonderful story
about the California Historical Radio Society (CHRS) getting an old radio
station to call home. After they fix up the building they will have a
Museum, Library and a great meeting and fleamarket location.
They have the building for ten years, and are responsible for repairs,
expenses and upkeep.
You can also read about it on line at:
http://www.californiahistoricalradio.com/
Click on CHRS News - there are several articles about the new building and
project there.
Since I will be unable to make the next NJARC meeting to make a motion: I
would like to suggest that the NJARC send at least $1000. to CHRS for their
building project. If someone would make that motion in my place, that
would be wonderful. They really need our help to get things going.
I'm hoping all you will support our fellow collectors in California with a
private donation as well. Information is on the web site where you can
join and/or send them some money.

John,
The vendor turnout was lighter than usual
but with strategic table placement and the
ability of vendors to spread out a bit, the
hall was filled. This was important because
we had media coverage from a local newspaper
(The Record), and a local television station
(Cablevision). The newspaper reporter interviewed
myself , Joe Bentrovato and others. The TV reporter
interviewed myself, Walt Heskas, and Dave Sica.
The cameramen were roaming everywhere taking pictures.
I think I talked the TV reporter into becoming a member.
He took a membership form with him and was excited about
the whole thing. We had a walk-around auction at about
11:30 and lucky for us the air conditioning worked very
well!

John,
I forgot to mention the tastiest part of the day.
After the meet everyone was invited over to Joe Bentrovato's
home to see his radio collection and enjoy burgers on the grill!

Lets send them 1000 cents and a "hip-hip hurray" and if we have any more
funds for projects, use them closer to home.
InfoAge, Sarnoff Library, and Battleship NJ seem much more worthy of our
support, if anybody.

I am a recent subscriber. One of your members recommended this as a place
to get all the answers. Hope so.
I am a collector and have been so for 0ver 30 years. I am currently
focusing on finding both information and ultimately a radio, the McMurdo
Silver 14-15.
Has anyone ever seen the creature? Any information to pay for copies? Or
by great chance is there one for sale somewhere? There is little info out
here regarding this radio.

Regarding 'Mystery Radio'
I'm reading a booklet I just purchased from Lindsay Publications, Chicago IL
(lindsaybks.com) titled "The Impoverished Radio Experimenter, Vol 1" It
starts out with a one tube receiver that looks just like yours and refers to
'Circuit 76 from Henley's 222 Radio Circuit Diagrams from 1923' and a
circuit on page 46 of 'How to build Your Radio Receiver' by Banning and
Cockaday, 1924. The booklet is quite detailed and informative.

I have this old homebrew broadcast receiver built on a breadboard.
It looks like it has never been finished and I have no history for the
thing.
I have pictures and description on my web page at
http://www.qsl.net/k7fj/
Just go there and click on 'Mystery Radio' to see it.
I would really like to know more about it ... that is, if there really
is anything to know. I am thinking of rebuilding
it and, if there was any sort of design published for it then I want
to be faithful to that design.
My pictures do not show the wooden box that the panel was mounted in.
The box was nailed together from scrap lumber and is a wreck.
I would appreciate any help you can offer.
Thanks,
Don K7FJ

Nick,
That's great news. I will check with Lindsay about getting my own
copy.
Thanks,
