[NJARC] an idea to increase membership

Owen and all:
There is a page on the website in the "library" section
www.njarc.org/videolibrary.htm that contains a description of the tech
talks that Phil Vourtsis has been taping every month for ten years. The
index covers talks into 2002 and Phil has promised an updated index
covering the most recent tapes.
My two cents on the topic: as purely a "shade tree" engineer, I've
learned a lot from the books, but club members sharing their expertise is
what brings it alive for me! When I joined this club I had been
collecting radios for over twenty years, but without any sort of support
structure. I didn't know a UV from a UX, a 201 from a 201A (or an '01A
from a 201A from a 301A for that matter) and wasn't at all sure what the
three big dials on my battery sets were for. Club events are the one
thing I try not to miss each month: I've gotten to know a lot of nice
folks, had a lot of fun and become a whole lot less ignorant in the
process.
