First I would like to thank Al Klase, Gary D' Amico, John Ruccolo, Walt
Heskes, Marty Friedman and every other member, who have taken the time at repair
clinics to help myself and others.
Now I would like to address this to the New Members that are going to the
repair clinics.
I too as a member for over 5 years have attended these clinics, yes it can be
frustrating to spend hours trying to get all the help you need. But first
remember there is a shortage of skilled knowledge and look around how thin they
have to spread themselves. Remember that they are taking time from their family
to volunteer help to you. And when I spent several hours and walked away with
a working radio, it was well worth it! Besides not only are you getting help
but tubes and capacitors are readily available at a low cost. Not only does
Technical help spend the day helping others, but they wind up coming early to
set up and stay late to clean up. My advice to new members that want to learn
about repairing radios is to invest in two great books that are available,
Antique Radio Restoration Guide by DAVID JOHNSON and Old Time Radios restoration
and repair by JOSEPH J. CARR. By having these two books the novice will get a
much better understanding and they are written so a layman can understand them.
Mario
