Knowing the Saturday forecast, I drove down anyway and watched the
sprinkles on the south side of the tunnel develop into a full-fledged toad
choker by the time I reached the event. (Makes me appreciate the Kutztown
site even more!) There were rumors that the room set aside for the evening
banquet might be able to be used for flea-marketing, but it would be 8:30am
before anyone from the hotel's banquet department would show up to
green-light the deal. John was right. By 9:30, there were only about eight
people selling, including myself. But despite the situation, I did
remarkably well and managed to sell about $300 worth of knobs. I was on my
way home by 2:30.
I agree with Paul Farmer's opinion 100%: The contest entries and displays
were truly top-shelf all the way. My congratulations to the Best In Show
winner who clearly deserved an award just for hauling that behemoth of a
Philco across the parking lot in clearly less than favorable conditions
without getting a drop on it!
See everybody in Hazlet June 22nd. Bring your orphans.
