Hi all,
I'm a full-time citizen of New Jersey again. After nearly four years of
residing in Pennsylvania, this Jersey boy has come home once again, this
time to Parsippany.
The movers have completed the Conventional Part of the move. The family
furnishings have all been transported to the new home. NOW I've got to
deal with "The Collection!"
Many thanks to those of you who have indicated a willingness to lend a
hand with moving the TVs and radios. Moving day has now been scheduled
for Sunday, August 17. I have the key ingredients for the move in place:
a truck, a stack of moving blankets and my good friend, moving consultant
and once-again-hero-of-the-moment Kevin, who is also known as "oh great
provider of display cases for our InfoAge museum". A few extra hands on
moving day would certainly turn this from a potentially overwhelming
exercise to something a bit more manageable. (For anyone worried about
missing church that day, I may be able to get you a special
dispensation!)
The ideal scenario to keep your time and travel to a minimum would be two
local crews, on in PA, one in NJ. I'm hoping two or three foolish -- er,
altruistic souls in the PA/western NJ area would be able to come by for a
few hours to help us load in Lansdale (west of Doylestown), then a couple
of fresh replacements from Northern or Central NJ could meet us later in
the day in East Hanover (near the intersection of Rts. 287 and 10) to
unload into a storage locker.
I won't have any radios to pass out as party favors to the participants,
but I do promise to provide food and beer! As a bonus, you'll be able to
have a good laugh at my wretched little collection and go home feeling
much better about the stuff you have.
Lansdale PA is west of Doylestown and can be reached either by heading
south on Rt. 202, or via the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The storage facility
in East Hanover is on Route 10 just east of Route 287. We're scheduled
to leave East Hanover with the truck at 10:00 AM, arriving in Lansdale by
noon (it's about an hour and a half drive, but since I don't drive a
truck very often I'm planning to take it slow!) I'm figuring we'll pack
and load from noon till perhaps 3, then head back to arrive in East
Hanover by 5 PM to unload. Unloading should be a lot quicker, probably
only an hour.
It's times like these that I could start to believe my wife and most of
my non-collector friends -- this is a little nuts! So if you're able to
come by to either end or both on the 17th, please let me know. I'll be
eternally grateful. My email address is [email protected] and my cell
phone number is 908-499-1449. You can also leave a message for me at
work: 732-382-0618.
Thanks a bunch!
