Gentlemen
The transistor in question is the FET or field effect transistor. The
MESFET or MEtal Semiconductor FET was developed at RCA Labs by Lou
Napoli. First transistor with one watt out at over 1GHz or 1000kmc if
you are old enough. RCA developed the 4000 series of CMOS digital
devices which replaced TTL in just about everything that used digital
logic. Try to find RTL, DTL or TTL devices to replace the broken parts
in your old digital equipment. Tough to do!

Jim
