Mike,
       What type of phonograph needles do you have? Steel, diamond,=20
sapphire? =20
As for the capacitors, I've found that it is worthwhile to replace the paper=
=20
caps. I can't give a timeline to follow for age, but if the radio is not=20
performing well, the caps and tubes are what I look at first. If your workin=
g=20
on a radio with the caps. packed into one unit, I've had success with=20
removing the old internal caps and replacing with new. This way you preserv=
e=20
the original appearance. Electrolytics... today's replacements are much=20
small than the originals, so you'll likely be able to take the original out=20
of the circuit and replace the new part without having a gaping hole in the=20
chassis. Unfortunately, the previous owner of my Sparton did not follow thi=
s=20
thought. I have a nice 2=BD inch hole in the chassis. =20
       The club is a great resource for help. If you need parts, other than=
=20
caps and tubes, I've found Antique Electronics Supply and Ocean State=20
Electronics good places to start.
