Hi Mike,

I'll make a few comments regarding your search for a
speaker. The four wires and the (19)39 in the part number
suggest that what you're seeking is an "electrodynamic"
speaker. These incorporate an electromagnet rather than the
permanent magnet used in modern units. The magnet's "field
winding" in the speaker is an integral part of the radio's
high-voltage power supply. Collectors commonly replace the
field winding with an inductor and resistor and connect a
modern speaker. This requires a bit of shade-tree
engineering to get it right.

Now, even if we helped you identify the right components, or
found a vintage replacement speaker, a radio of that age
will likely require considerable additional work.
Typically, all the paper and electrolytic capacitors in the
set need to be replaced if it's expected to work correctly
and not damage itself.

While the necessary work is not quite rocket science, it is
time consuming and requires some technical skill. It's
usually difficult to find someone to undertake a job like
this. The problem is the open-ended nature of the task.

It is possible to do it yourself. If you need another
hobby, the club would be glad to get you started.

Regards,
Al
