For those of you not on the TCA (Tube Collectors Association) reflector, 
an interesting saga transpired over the past week.   Someone put on Ebay 
a DeForest single wing Audion along with a nice mount and control box.  
That prompted a vigorous debate among the TCA experts who quickly 
decided that it was a repro and most of the discussion then centered on 
which of the repro makers created it.  They also pretty much concluded 
that the control box was a repro, probably a Mel Comer special.  I must 
admit that it was very pretty, others must have thought so as well since 
it sold for $4427.00 with 30 bids.  Since it was a private auction we 
don't know who bought it, of course being private it all could have been 
a "put up job".  The auction was 2152240819, I think the pictures are 
still up.  Amazing, who said the economy was soft.
