[NJARC] Ballast Tubes

Is anyone out there interested in details about ballast (resistor) =
tubes?  These were used in early AC-DC sets instead of hard wired =
ballast resistors to compensate for inadequate voltage drop of the =
filaments of the tubes in series.  I came across an old reference in a =
POPULAR SCIENCE publication which gives circuit details.  I am new to =
this game and this may be common knowledge to many of you out there but =
I thought it was interesting and may not be widely known.  I will =
respond to anyone interested.  Nick Senker
