To The list...
I have some concerns about Alex's announcement. I was under the impression
that the January repair clinic was to be a "members only" event. I know that
Alex had arranged to have the radio, TV, phono exhibits available for the public
as well as our clinic as a display in and of itself. But by inviting public
radios for repair will make it nearly impossible for the staff to handle our
own club members equipment which was the original intent of this clinic. By
having Al Klase, Scott Marshall and Phil Vourtsis and others helping with the
displays The number of qualified helpers is markedly lowered. We need someone
to take on the responsibility of coordinating the radios and helpers. The
helpers need to have advance notice of model numbers and symptoms if possible. If
this was to be Al, he now is spread too thin.
Another concern is the promise of "free" repairs without any mention of
parts. Is the club prepared to give away parts? I don't think so.
I think it is necessary that any future press releases that involve the NJARC
be cleared by the president with the appropriate approval of the board.
Happy holidays to all,
Marty Friedman, Trustee, NJARC
