To all, especially those who couldn't make it last night.
The (very) good news.....
I arrived at the dinner at 5 PM. Phil and some of the Board were already
there working on setting up the dinner and all. They had a meeting with
Alex and purchased all the books for the club library.
I want to thank Phil and the Board for going ahead and acquiring the
books. I want to also thank Alex for making this possible and for the
reasonable price he offered. And I want to thank those who took the time
to offer dollars and those who helped support this project by talking it
up. Together, we made it happen.
The (not-so) bad news......
What I didn't expect, and should have, was transporting the books away from
Sarnoff Labs. I guess I thought they would just magically fly to their
future home all by themselves. Anyway, Phil asked us to take as many as we
could, and store them temporarily until a safe and dry location can be
found at Camp Evans for their final storage. There was over 70 feet of books.
I now have about 20-25 lineal feet of books in my van. My plan is to
bring home some 1 to 1.5 foot long boxes from school (work), sort them by
interest or areas, then catalog them - and hopefully get rid of them
sometime soon.
The dinner committee did an outstanding job on the dinner. There was so
much food and it was really good. (I sampled everything.)
And the Present - Exchange Game was the tops! I never saw so many presents
exchange hands, over and over again. There were some really great presents
too, well over the suggested value of $15-20. Who did finally end up
with the mirrored front radio anyway? I lost track. I think at least 20
individuals owned it at one time or another, sometimes only for a few
seconds, and some owned it several times only to loose it again. :-)
73, and seasons greetings to all,
