Subject: [NJARC] Save the Sarnoff book collection!

NJARC'ers,

Thanks to Sarnoff selling off their book collection at our meeting on=20
Saturday, I would like to make a suggestion.

When our club started, we had a lot of ideas, one of which was to fund a

museum. With the advent of Camp Evans, this looks like it will become a

real thing - and without a whole lot of funding on our part. One of the

items a museum needs is, reference materials. This is a great
opportunity=20
for the club to pick up an entire library for our museum at Camp Evans.

I would like to call our meeting to order at 5:00 pm, prior to going
into=20
the book sale area, and discuss the possibility of the club purchasing
the=20
entire collection - with the idea that it be housed at Camp Evans. This

would mean that we, individually will not be picking up books for a buck

each, but that the club will write a check and the club will own them
all.

It would benefit the club to have a collection like this. And it would
only=20
hold up any activities for a few minutes - to open the meeting, discuss=20
this with the members, vote on it, then go on with the festivities. If
the=20
members vote to trash the collection, so be it but I think there are
many=20
who would want to save it, and it should be saved.

This has great benefits for us individually, as members of NJARC, we
will=20
be able to borrow the books from the library. So instead of going home=20
with 10 books, we will be able to borrow hundreds over time.

I recommend and will be happy to make the motion at the meeting that the

club purchase the entire collection from Saronoff with the provision
they=20
be placed in the museum at Camp Evans, or in an other NJARC museum if
Camp=20
Evans does not come to fruition.

It would be a shame to let this collection be dis-banded.

73, John Dilks, K2TQN
