Hi,=20
I'm glad my email got some responses. Just a couple of thoughts on why I =
suggested Englishtown. Top is that if we can get it established no one =
would be required to open up buildings for restroom access, etc. This =
was a consideration since everyone has a busy life and have other =
commitments.=20

I support Infoage and think it is a great venue (also it is closer to my =
home). Englishtown is a bit closer to the middle of the state although =
it is not really near any major highway. It does though have available =
restrooms and food (plus the lure of the dirt mall). I think that =
wherever we try tailgating that we also see if we can make fellow =
travelers (particularly ham radio groups) to feel welcome. Obviously if =
we could find a venue like the old Hightstown one it would be great for =
the regular events, but I think there is a desire for additional =
periodic tailgate functions.=20

On training by the group, I think that we should keep this in our minds =
when we work the repair clinics. In retrospect the few times that I went =
I was concentrating on the repair aspect more that helping the owner of =
the radio learn. Beyond which I think the technical topics suggestions =
are interesting. One thing that would help would be a permanent test =
bench.

When Infoage has power and plumbing I suggest that we set up the big =
table in the cottage basement as a test bench. This would allow us a =
permanent clinic location for the membership. Those clinics open to the =
public are too good of an idea to drop but I think there is a place for =
members only help as well. I would be willing to help find equipment for =
that effort.=20

Also this might be the place to store some of the groups common tubes =
and components since if you don't have the part....

Let's try to see if we can come up with some proposals to try in the =
spring for tailgating. As soon as possible we can gather requests for =
technical training topics. I already have one for oscilloscope use. As =
to recruiting new members remember to spread the word, for example I =
automatically approach anyone buying a radio at the fleamarket to =
mention NJARC and our repair clinics and swap meets.

Subject: Tailgate Swap Meet

All,
During the last few NJARC meetings people have questioned why we don't =
get a venue for our (antique radio) swapmeets which have tailgate space. =
I am asking for your interest in a tailgate only swapmeet (hamfest) on a =
repeating basis. Please pass this to anyone you know who might be =
interested.

What I have in mind is getting a block of tables at Englishtown on a =
periodic basis. There is a bunch of space and the owners are willing to =
negotiate a lower rate if we reserve a minimum number of tables. Since =
this is in an active flea market there is also the possibility of =
recruiting new members (or more buyers). If there is sufficient =
interest Phil is willing to treat this like a club function and put us =
on the website, etc.=20

The ultimate would be a once a month gathering of radio fans which would =
always be there.=20
