Hi,

It was a fun "Show-and-Tell" last night.

I work at Howell Living History Farm in Mercer County, NJ. We show
circa-1900 farming and farm life. Check out our web site
www.howellfarm.org. To see what I do, look at the internship section.

Being a radio fanatic, I had to find a way to show radio at the farm. I
came up with a Saturday program called, "Back to the Future", to be held =
in
November. The idea of the program is to show technologies that either di=
d
not exist in 1900 or were so new that they were not commonplace on the
farm. Among the technologies to be featured are rural electrification an=
d
radio.

I am looking for help in several areas.

1)Things to display statically in a hands-off display:
Advertising touting the benefits of radio for farmers and other rural
residents.
Information about programming available in NJ in the 20s and 30s,
especially geared towards farmers.
A couple of simple sets of the same time period.

2)A couple of volunteers who can speak to adults and children, friendly,
patient, and firm, to help visitors listen to a "bomb-proof" crystal set =
to
be built by some other volunteers. This is an important part of the
program, because our philosophy is to put the Living in "Living History".=

This should be a fun opportunity to share our hobby with the public. =

Thanks, Rob Flory
