[NJARC] Speakers to Match your Tube Amplifier

Anyone interested in a pair of Altec Lansing 846B Valencia speakers, the =
home version of the A-7 "Voice of the Theatre"? Per my 1974 High =
Fidelity's Test Reports these systems had just replaced the 848A =
Flamencos at $399.00 each. These are large 8 ohm speaker systems which =
are very efficient and create a large amount of volume with relatively =
low inputs. The system is rated at 30 watts which would be overwhelming =
(but not distorted per the 1974 review)  in a large living room (these =
systems were designed for large spaces).=20

The systems consists of a 15 inch woofer and a large die-cast =
exponential horn crossing over at 800 cycles (Hertz for the young). I =
have used these for the last 20 years with a Mac 240 which is a good =
match for the speakers. If you like glass audio and have a good size =
room you need these monsters.

 The cabinets could use refinishing, new grill cloth etc. These speakers =
are large enough so they will not fit in most cars, a pickup or minivan =
is indicated. I can bring them to the next meeting or possibly deliver =
