[NJARC] tube kits for novices

Hi All,

One of my colleagues wants to give his 18-year-old son a radio for
Christmas.  The kid has a technician license and is pretty handy but has =
no
soldering experience.  We are looking for a kit under $100 that will let
kid build something that he can receive code on and upgrade his license. =
 I
think a tube rig would be a good start as I am a little afraid to set him=

up with a PCB kit for a first project.    A good article for a RF amp +
autodyne detector rig with  tube(s) would be an option as I have plenty o=
f
parts.
