HI Folks -   I received the following note from the gang in Elko regarding their NWS office's planned "open house' on Saturday October 3.   If any of you from outside of that area might be nearby that weekend, you might want to plan on attending.  Sounds like a great opportunity.   73  --Don

National Weather Service in Elko to Host an Open House

The National Weather Service Forecast Office in Elko, Nevada will be hosting an open house on Saturday, October 3rd between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. Forecasters and our electronic staff will give tours of the facilities, demonstrating state-of-the-art technologies utilized by meteorologists to make forecasts and distribute weather warnings. A children's area will be set up with hands-on activities for guests to learn about the weather.
