[NevadaARES] Don Standing down from Gustav trip

   After many hours of conference calls and contingency planning, the decision was made late last night and confirmed this morning that I WILL NOT be going to the Hurricane Gustav war zone in Louisiana.  There were many contributing factors to this decision, among which were logistics in getting me in and out, lack of lodging and mainly the fact that (thank God) Gustav was not as powerful and destructive as had been originally thought.  It is simply being good stewards of League funds to not send a national PIO into the zone to cover what did not turn out to be the story that we had anticipated, which is a good thing.  I would have been standing in for Allen Pitts, W1AGP from HQ who is having shoulder surgery this morning (please keep him in your thoughts and prayers). 
   There may, however, be other storm events before this season is over which may facilitate such a trip, but for now ... I'm off the hook!   Thank you all for standing by to cover in my absence, which is truly appreciated on behalf of the League and the Nevada Section.  Thanks and 73
