SUBJECT: FIELD DAY PUBLICITY
This coming Wednesday, June 11, I will be preparing a press release to be
distributed to all media outlets in Reno/Sparks announcing both Amateur
Radio Week in Nevada (June 22-28, per action of the Nevada Legislature,
1999 session) and Field Day. If you would like your club's/EMCOMM group's
Field Day operation listed in this press release, please respond to me ASAP
with the following information:
Group Name:
Field Day Station Call/Location:
Name of Contact Person:
Telephone/E-mail of Contact Person:
This information will also be compiled into a special Field Day web page to
be posted to the snars.org web site.
Good luck to all of you in representing amateur radio in Northwestern
Nevada. Don't forget to listen for W6P, the "Portola Railroad Museum CQ
Foamites," transmitting live and direct from the Railroad Museum in
Portola, California (a.k.a., God's Country). And yes, that background QRM
will be authentic train whistles of the classic Nathan M5R24 (hallmark of
the Western Pacific) and Leslie S-3 (mainstay of the Southern Pacific)
varieties, as historic WP and SP locomotives trundle past our station,
which will be located in full view of the mainlines of both the Feather
River & Western and Union Pacific Railroads.
73,
Matt, N7TOD
