Hi Jim, Glad that you ans Sherri can make it to the ham breakfast. We
have a lot to catch up on. Hey Jim (and perhaps others), I need some
help for a new ham. One of the students (Aaron) who passed his tech on
Saturday is 15 years old, is blind, and has some other motor skills
problems. He also has a twin who has more sever disabilities. Aaron
will go the distance in ham radio and I will begin working with him on
the code in a week or so. The Navy used to have Morse keys that were
designed to be used on pitching ships. I used to have one of them a
long time ago. Well with Aaron's motor skills issues, that type of key
is exactly the kind he needs. Do you have any ole' timer contacts in
your circles that may have one of these keys they would like to give new
life? Additionally, Aaron's brother may be able to use Morse to
communicate more effectively with the world. I am not sure yet wheter
there is enough there for his brother to get a ticket, but I am
confident that he could master and use Morse. The Navy type of key
would definately be needed for him. So the key would do double
duty. You will meet Aaron at the breakfast, and I am hoping they will
bring his brother. I beleive he lives in Lyon County (he lives in TRE),
so he might be a candidate for your ARES group. Hope you can help by
beating the bushes for that key. Also look forward to seeing you on the
8th. 73, Mark
